What some young people have said about taking part in an Explore event
I was surprised that marriages can survive so many years as today there seems to be lost of divorces. It gives me a lot of hope to be able to have a long-lasting, loving relationship |
(Sixth Form College, Bicester) |
Yes, I had a stereotypical view of marriage and that has completely changed |
(Year 10, Hampshire) |
I feel better knowing how other people deal with arguments with their partner as that was my fear of getting married |
(Year 10, Merthyr Tydfil) |
I thought they may have held back, they said they never had a big argument which seemed idealistic |
(Year 10, Eastleigh) |
I discovered that if something disappoints you in a relationship it is not being able to have children. It is important not to dwell on that but to embrace life anyway and take alternative options |
(Year 11, High Wycombe) |
I’ve learnt to be more careful of my choices in life, to think harder what and how much a relationship needs. |
(Year 11, Norwich) |
| It was a bit disappointing to find out her reason for divorce and made me think about the fact that marriage isn’t all positive and bad things happen too |
(Year 11, Salisbury) |
| You can only learn from your own experience. Asking the couples does not answer the problems I may face |
(Year 12, Vale of Glamorgan) |
| It’s nice to meet people who married young and are still together because so many adults have a very disparaging view that people of our age don’t know what love is and that relationships we are in could actually last |
