After over 5 years of sterling work for the charity, David Coltart retired and was succeeded by Chris Ford who has been in education for over 35 years, and until recently, was a Headmaster in Hampshire for 16 years.

He spoke with great clarity and insight on how we need to educate and develop the ‘whole person’ and not allow the drive for academic exam success to be the only focus in schools. He reminded us that we all have a spirit and soul that needs to be ‘set free’ and that, quite clearly, relationship education and the principles of Explore have much to contribute to the development and well-being of young people.

In the 2009/2010 Academic Year, Explore will have organised workshops in which a record number of young people will have participated. To date 5,400 young people have attended Explore events in the last year – an increase of 19% on 2008/09. Since December 2000, over 30,000 young people have taken part in the Explore experience.

The 2010 Explore Lecture will be delivered by Professor Anthony Seldon, the Master of Wellington College, on Thursday 11th November 2010 at the Armourers’ Hall in London.

Explore have announced that Amanda McNeil, a leading Property Dispute Lawyer, William Sedgwick, Head of Alderbrooke School in Solihull, and Martin Westacott, Chair of Explore Berkshire, have been co-opted onto the Board of Trustees of the Students Exploring Marriage Trust.

The 9th Annual General Meeting of the Students Exploring Marriage Trust was held at the Armourers’ Hall in London on Tuesday 23rd February 2010.
EXPLORE DEVON HOLD SUCCESSFUL FIRST CONFERENCE

Explore Devon were delighted with the success of their first Conference which was held at St Peter’s School, Exeter on 21 January 2010. It was a major event involving 250 young people from the school, 7 new Adviser-Coaches and 13 first-time couples. The school have invited Explore to undertake another conference in the new academic year.
MBE FOR FOUNDER OF EXPLORE

Rex Chester, the Founder and Hon. President of Explore, has been awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List for services to young people through the charity Explore.
